1966: STAR TREK premiered on NBC.   Among the memorable guest stars in the original series who starred in Daytime were Kathryn Hays, Michael Forest, Garry Pillar and Mary Linda Rapelye.

1967: On ANOTHER WORLD, Walter (Val Dufour) raked Liz (Audra Lindley) over the coals for ruining Missy's life.

1968: The New York Times featured AS THE WORLD TURNS on its front page. Read the article here.

1969: WHERE THE HEART IS, set in the fictional town of Northcross, premiered on CBS. The show, which centered on the Hathaway family, was created by Lou Scofield and Margaret DePriest, who were the original head writers. They were replaced by Pat Falken Smith and later Claire Labine and Paul Avila Mayer before the she ended its run.

1980: ANOTHER WORLD debuted its still-frame end credits.

1986: On SANTA BARBARA, Eden wore Tori's ring at her opening party.



2002: Former AS THE WORLD TURNS star Dennis Cooney died at age 63. He played Jay Stallings from 1973 to 1980.

2011: Actress Mary Fickett died at age 83. Her longest running soap role was Ruth Martin in ALL MY CHILDREN. Her other daytime roles included Sally (and later Katherine) in THE EDGE OF NIGHT, Ruth in THE INNER FLAME and Miss Long in YOUNG DOCTOR MALONE. She also played Liz in THE NURSES.

  1. Marj Dusay had a major guest appearance as Kara on Star Trek in the first episode of the third season, "Spock's Brain." Her famous line was "Brain and brain. What is brain?"

    Michael Zaslow had a small part as crew man who got killed by the salt monster in the first episode of the first season, "The Man Trap."

    Glenn Corbett (Jason Aldrige on The Doctors) was in the second season episode, "Metamorphosis," as Zefram Cochrane, the inventor of the warp drive.
