PREVIEW: HBO's TRUE BLOOD ("Sunset")

The Emmy-nominated TRUE BLOOD continues its 12-episode fifth season Sunday, August 19 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.

In the episode titled "Sunset," slipping further into religious fervor, Bill (Stephen Moyer) gives Jessica (Deborah Ann Woll) an order she’s loath to carry out. Armed with a damning video of Russell and Steve, the military delivers an ultimatum to the Authority. Claude (Giles Matthey) and Maurella (Kristina Anapau) take Sookie to meet the faerie elder, who may know something about an ancient family secret. Alcide reconnects with his father; Sam and Luna hitch a ride into the Authority.

Mixing romance, suspense, mystery and humor, the show takes place in a world where vampires and humans co-exist, after vampires have come out of the coffin, thanks to the invention of mass-produced synthetic blood that means they no longer need humans as a nutritional source.

The series follows waitress and part-faerie Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin), who can hear people's thoughts, vampire Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) and vampire Eric Northman (Alexander Skarsgard). Alan Ball (creator of the Emmy(R)-winning HBO series SIX FEET UNDER) created and executive produces the show, which is based on the bestselling Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris.
