PREVIEW: USA's POLITICAL ANIMALS ("16 Hours")

POLITICAL ANIMALS, the six-hour event on USA Network, continues on Sunday, August 12 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. The series tells the story of a former first family fighting political adversaries while struggling with their own powerful demons.

In "16 Hours," in the aftermath of T.J.’s overdose, Elaine finds herself torn between staying by her son’s side and handling the rescue of a Chinese submarine. Bud discovers the truth behind T.J.’s suicide attempt last December, and takes matters into his own hands. In exchange for keeping Susan quiet on T.J.’s overdose, Elaine grants her unlimited access to the submarine rescue mission, placing her at the front of the action, and leaving Douglas to cross a boundary that could jeopardize his future.

From Warner Horizon Television and acclaimed television and film producers Greg Berlanti (BROTHERS AND SISTERS) and Laurence Mark, the event drama has added Adrian Pasdar (THE LYING GAME) in a recurring role opposite Sigourney Weaver (SOMERSET) in her first television series regular role. Pasdar stars as President Paul Garcetti, who defeated Elaine (Weaver) in the presidential primary and then appointed her as his Secretary of State. A smart man who uses every resource at his disposal to his advantage, he deftly employs Elaine's popularity to deflect unwanted attention. Elaine tries to keep her family together while simultaneously dealing with crises of the State Department and a hungry DC journalist (Carla Gugino) who is bent on destroying her.

POLITICAL ANIMALS explores the nuanced and complex world of politics through the lens of a family who has experienced its highs and lows. The project also stars Carla Gugino (ENTOURAGE), James Wolk (LONE STAR), Sebastian Stan (GOSSIP GIRL), Brittany Ishibashi (THE MENTALIST) with Ellen Burstyn and CiarĂ¡n Hinds.
