Telemundo announced today telenovela stars Gaby Espino and Rafael Amaya will host the Network’s first-ever “Premios Tu Mundo” (Your World Awards). The three-hour star-studded awards special will air live on Thursday, August 30 at 8 p.m. ET from the Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theatre. Fans from all over the country already have submitted over 1.5 million votes online at www.premiostumundo.com and through Telemundo’s entertainment iPhone App for their favorite TV shows, actors and actresses, movies, music, athletes, and stars in 25 categories including Novela of the Year, Favorite Lead Actor and Actress, The Perfect Couple, The Best Bad Boy, The Best Kiss, Best Novela Soundtrack, #Most Social and Favorite Latino in Hollywood, Best Athlete of the Year, among many others.
The special also will feature “Alfombra de Premios Tu Mundo,” an arrivals pre-show, as well as musical performances by today’s most popular singers. Fans can follow this show via Twitter @premiostumundo and www.facebook.com/premiostumundo.
Gaby Espino, who made the cover of this year’s People en Español “50 Most Beautiful,” is undoubtedly one of the most recognized telenovela stars in the United States and around the world. This beautiful and talented actress has starred in several top Telemundo original productions including MAS SABE EL DIABLO, OJO POR OJO, SIN VERGUENZA and made a special appearance in EL ROSTRO DE ANALIA. Gaby began her film career with the movie La Mujer de mi Hermano in 2005 and later joined the cast of Elipsis in 2006.
Well-known Mexican actor Rafael Amaya is one of the top telenovela stars in the industry having participated in highly-rated Telemundo original productions such as ALGUIEN TE MIRA and the runaway hit LA REINA DEL SUR, alongside Kate del Castillo, where he brought to life the popular character of “El Güero” Dávila. Named one of the “50 Most Beautiful” of People en Español last year, Rafael also co-hosted the “2011 Premios Billboard de la Música Latina.” Amaya is also popular in Spain for his starring roles in the TV series LA PIEL AZUL, HOSPITAL CENTRAL and DOCTOR MATEO.
Premios Tu Mundo is a musical spectacular event that celebrates pop culture and combines the power of television, web, mobile and social media platforms to give fans the final say in what’s hot in everything that moves and inspires them: novelas, music, fashion, movies and sports. Nominees for the 2012 Premios Tu Mundo were selected from May 2011 through May 2012 by a panel of industry professionals.
