Bobbie Eakes To Emcee and Perform at Miss Virginia Pageant This Week

ALL MY CHILDREN's Bobbie Eakes, Miss Georgia in 1982, will emcee and perform at the Miss Virginia Pageant this week in Roanoke.

"It's great to be back in pageants again," she told WDBJ7. "It's been many years since I emceed a pageant and many years since I competed so it's very exciting and it's like coming back to family."

She doesn't rule out a return to daytime TV but points out there are only four soap operas left.

"The soaps are having trouble with viewership," she said, "and not so much that we're losing viewership, it's just so expensive to film and tape a soap. Producers are finding it's so much cheaper to put a reality show or a lifestyle talk show on the air so that really sealed the fate of a lot of daytime dramas.  The fans are still hoping somehow our shows are going to come back again.  And you never know."

In the meantime, she is auditioning and pursuing a singing career.
