NEWS ROUNDUP: Jeff Zucker May Leave Katie, Lucy Hale Record Deal, Mark LaMura Film on DVD

Given all his job offers, Jeff Zucker could soon move on from Katie Couric
“The reason his name is popping up is because he told his people to put his name out out there for every job that comes up,” said one network insider. “He’s upset that Comcast [the new owner of NBC] is blaming him for the deep hole they are in.”

Zucker and Couric, whose daytime show debuts in September, squabbled in April when Couric realized that Zucker might not be in it for the long haul.

A source close to the show said, “I don’t think Zucker is going anywhere until it is certain there will be a second season, and I don’t think he’s deliberately putting his name out there.”

But if he’s offered CNN ... hasta la vista, Katie!

The girl believed she would not get any support and did not realize that she would be able to give evidence behind a screen.

"With a serialized show, you need to have a character who becomes the franchise," says John Shiban, who worked on BREAKING BAD and now exec produces western railroad epic HELL ON WHEELS for AMC. "The character's personal story and how that plays out generates the stories. You're always walking that tightrope of believability, where audiences begin to wonder how much can happen to just one person, so you have to know how to stretch it out."

DALLAS star Jordana Brewster wanted to do primetime soap
"I lived in Brazil from 1986-1990, and I loved watching telenovelas and the production value is so good for them. When I was younger, I would watch them and think, I really want to do that when I'm older. I think night time operas like DALLAS and ABC's REVENGE is just good storytelling with really fun characters to me."
