Mario Batali To Laura Wright On THE CHEW: We're Part Of That Same Daytime Pop Culture Which Makes Us Very Proud

GENERAL HOSPITAL Emmy winner Laura Wright (Carly) was one of the guests on the Thursday, May 31 episode of THE CHEW. She gave a pre-recorded tour of her home and her Standing Still winery, then was live in studio to help Mario Batali and Michael Symon make a pasta meal.

"In the soap opera world, the fans are viciously attached to their characters," Batali said. "Daytime TV fans weren't quite ready for us when they started, but I think we made some moves, and a lot of people that used to watch some of the shows find them at different times, and now we're part of that same beautiful daytime pop culture which makes us very proud."

Dark and spooky Chapter 9 of THE BAY began on Thursday with John Reilly (GENERAL HOSPITAL; PASSIONS) debuting as the Garrett’s sage butler, Mortimer. Michael Swan (AS THE WORLD TURNS) returns as the irate hotel manager Buck Stanton and Fiona Hutchison (GUIDING LIGHT; ONE LIFE TO LIVE) as the sultry and determined Emma Cambridge.

Sara Garrett (Mary Beth Evans) sees a ghost from her past as Steve Jensen (Matthew Ashford) pays an unexpected visit to the Garrett estate. Peter Garrett (Kristos Andrews) is determined to warn his brother Brian (Dylan Bruce) though he may be too late!

EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Lindsey Morgan On Her GENERAL HOSPITAL Debut (Part 2 of 2)

Actress Lindsey Morgan debuted at the end of Friday's episode of GENERAL HOSPITAL in the role of Kristina Corinthos Davis, daughter to Port Charles crime boss Sonny Corinthos and lawyer Alexis Davis. In her first full episode on Tuesday, Kristina returned home with vengeance, having learned that there was much more to her admission to Yale than she originally thought.

Prior to her role on GENERAL HOSPITAL, Morgan has been earning big laughs with appearances on ABC’s comedy HAPPY ENDINGS, and on the wildly popular CBS sitcom, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER.

This half-Latina, half-Irish, southern girl from Houston, Texas, began her career in college but quickly opted out to head West and chase her acting dream. It didn’t take long for Hollywood to take notice, landing the leading role in MTV’s original film, disCONNECTED; and a supporting role in indie film DETENTION, starring Josh Hutcherson and Dane Cook.

The season 13 winner of DWTS will play a physical therapist who works with wounded veterans. Martinez will begin filming his guest spot next month in Charleston. The episode will air at the end of August.

INTERVIEW: Sutton Foster Previews Her New ABC Family Show BUNHEADS

Sutton Foster is an award-winning actress, singer and dancer. Born in Georgia, and raised in Michigan, she appeared in "The Will Rogers Follies," "Grease!," "The Scarlet Pimpernel," "Annie," and "Les Miserables" before her big break and Tony Award-winning performance in "Thoroughly Modern Millie."

After starring as Reno Sweeney in The Roundabout's revival of "Anything Goes", a role that earned her the 2011 Tony, Drama Desk, Outer Critics, Astaire, and Broadway.com's Audience Favorite Awards, Ms. Foster landed the lead in ABC Family's BUNHEADS (premiering June 11 at 9 p.m. ET/PT). Foster will play Michelle Simms, a former ballerina turned Vegas showgirl decides to take a gamble on a new marriage and a fresh start in Paradise, CA.

Olympian Greg Louganis Joins OLD DOGS & NEW TRICKS as Recurring Special Guest Star

Olympic gold-medal athlete, actor, author and animal & gay rights activist Greg Louganis has joined the cast of the award-winning web sitcom OLD DOGS & NEW TRICKS for a three-episode arc in its second season, producers have announced.

Louganis will play “Dirk Evans,” a formerly notorious ‘90s WeHo circuit boy who turns over a new leaf to marry one of the show’s regular characters in mid-season.

OLD DOGS & NEW TRICKS follows four middle-aged gay best friends living in youth-obsessed West Hollywood.  Leon Acord, Jeffrey Patrick Olson, Curt Bonnem and David Pevsner star as the four friends; cabaret star Amanda Abel and Ryland Shelton co-star.

Louganis first shot to fame as an Olympic athlete in 1976, winning a Silver medal at age 16, he went on to become the only male to  win gold medals on both 3 meter springboard and 10 meter platform in consecutive Olympic Games (1984, 1988) – and is considered  the greatest diver in history. In 1995, he stunned the world with his courage when came out as a gay man on both Barbara Walters’ 20/20 and THE OPRAH WINFREY SHOW.

* Bradford Anderson continues to shine as poor Spinelli deals with the fallout of Maxie's marriage to Matt. When he tears up, I tear up. Kudos to Jen Lilley as well. #Maxie trended during the East Coast airing of GH. (Note: It is the #YearOfTheSoap)

Andie MacDowell To Star In First-Ever Hallmark Primetime Series CEDAR COVE

Hallmark Channel has announced that JANE BY DESIGN actress Andie MacDowell is set to star in the two-hour pilot, CEDAR COVE, which commences production in mid-June.  CEDAR COVE, the movie, is the basis for the network’s first-ever primetime series.

The movie pilot will premiere in late 2012, with the new one-hour drama series expected to premiere shortly after in early 2013.  CEDAR COVE, is based on the bestselling book series by renowned author Debbie Macomber.  The past partnership between Hallmark Channel and Debbie Macomber has resulted in the network having three of the top rated Original Movies on all of ad-supported cable TV three years in a row.  “Debbie Macomber’s Mrs. Miracle,” “Debbie Macomber’s Call Me Mrs. Miracle,” and “Debbie Macomber’s Trading Christmas” all premiered as #1 for both the day and the week each premiered, 2009-2011, respectively.

Daytime Emmy Awards Planning Meeting: Morning Show Final Award Instead of Daytime Drama

HLN, the network that is airing this year's Daytime Emmy Awards on June 23, is live-tweeting their planning meeting today at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. One of the first revelations is that the Outstanding Morning Show (with only two nominees: TODAY versus GMA) will be the final award instead of the Daytime Drama category which has traditionally been last.

Ian Buchanan Leaving DAYS OF OUR LIVES

Ian Buchanan, who debuted on DAYS OF OUR LIVES in February as Ian McAllister, has been written out of the show, according to Soap Opera Digest. Since production is a few months ahead, Buchanan will appear on screen through the summer.

Buchanan was recently announced as a recurring guest star on the upcoming season of indie series OLD DOGS & NEW TRICKS.

Sarah Brown, who played Ian's wife, Madison, is scheduled to exit on August 15.

Seems one woman in the congregation kept asking them to pray for a man they thought was a member. Each week, she’d ask for his prayer; the man had amnesia. He’d been divorced and married several times. He had problems with his children. The prayer requests kept coming and the congregation prayed but they couldn’t figure out who this member was.

* Lindsey Morgan seems like a terrific actress, stepping into the role of Kristina. She held her own with powerhouses Maurice Benard and Nancy Lee Grahn. Actually, she commanded those scenes. If the character is written well, Morgan is going to thrive.

Molly Burnett Leaving DAYS OF OUR LIVES

Rumors have been circulating that Indie Soap Award and Emmy nominee Molly Burnett is about to leave the role of 'Melanie Jonas' and DAYS OF OUR LIVES, and now Soap Opera Digest is now confirming the news. Burnett will be exiting the show at the end of June

"Going in, I knew it was a four-year contract and look, it's been the most amazing experience," she tells the magazine. "I look at it as four years of the best training any actor could have ever been given."

Burnett will be making another appearance on indie soap hit EMPIRE later this year.

Sixteen year old British actor Joshua Pascoe who stars in EASTENDERS arrested on sexual assault allegations
The 16-year-old, who stars as troubled Ben Mitchell in popular BBC soap opera, was questioned by detectives in Wimbledon, south London on Thursday, British newspaper The Sun reported.

"A 16-year-old boy was arrested on May 24 in connection with an allegation of sexual assault. He has been bailed to return to a North London police station on July 31," a Scotland Yard spokesperson told the publication.

Lee Rich Dead at 93

Lee Rich, a former advertising executive who became a top television and film producer, has died at age 93.

Rich, co-founder and former president of Lorimar Productions, died Thursday of lung cancer at his home in Los Angeles, a Warner Bros. spokesman confirmed.

Rich's TV credits included working as executive producer of primetime soap operas DALLAS, KNOTS LANDING, FALCON CREST, KING'S CROSSING and FLAMINGO ROAD, as well as longtime CBS favorite THE WALTONS.

ANNIVERSARY: GOEDE TIJDEN SLECHTE TIJDEN (GTST) Celebrates 4,500 Episodes

Dutch soap opera GOEDE TIJDEN SLECHTE TIJDEN has a celebration this week: RTL4 will air the show's 4,500th episode on Friday, June 1.

The episode will revolve around Ludo Sanders and Janine Elschot, the show's most well-known couple. They're played by Erik de Vogel and Caroline de Bruijn who are also a couple in real life (they fell in love on set). Ludo and Janine are planning to get married on Friday (their third marriage) but whether they actually tie the knot remains to be seen.

Dark Shadows Earns $7.5M & 6th Place At The U.S. Weekend Box Office; Total Gross $63M U.S., $170M Worldwide

Dark Shadows came in 6th at the box office this weekend in the United States with an estimated $7.5 million take for May 25-27, 2012.   Men in Black 3, featuring AS THE WORLD TURNS star Trent Dawson, landed in first place.

PREVIEW: Monday Night ABC Family Soap THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER

Grant Aleksander Graduates From Washington and Lee University

GUIDING LIGHT star Grant Aleksander left college more than 30 years ago but returned three decades later to fulfill his lifelong dream of earning a college degree.

Thursday was graduation day for Washington and Lee student Aleksander who played Phillip Spaulding from 1982 on and off until the end of the series in 2009. .

The Theater major left Washington and Lee after his sophomore year to pursue an acting career but says his parents always wanted him to graduate from college. He returned in Fall 2010.

mun2's U.S. Premiere of OJO POR OJO Delivers Best Telenovela Premiere in Network's History Among Adults 18-49

mun2’s U.S. television premiere of Telemundo Studios’ telenovela OJO POR OJO (Eye for an Eye) set record ratings, scoring the best premiere for any telenovela in network history among adults 18-49 (101,000), according to Nielsen. During its May 21stpremiere, mun2 delivered 137,000 total viewers, and 58,000 YLAs (Young Latino Americans aged 18-34), making  OJO POR OJO  the #1 show at 11pm ET across all Hispanic cable networks.

INTERVIEW: Melissa Joan Hart On Her Life, Career & The New Season Of MELISSA & JOEY

Melissa Joan Hart stars in the ABC Family series MELISSA & JOEY where she also is executive-producing the half-hour multi-camera comedy along with her co-star, Joey Lawrence. The show returns for its second season on Wednesday, May 30.

Hart is best known internationally for her starring role in SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH, which is produced by her company, Hartbreak Films, in association with Viacom and aired on The WB and ABC Networks. The show is also in syndication around the world and has inspired two “Wonderful World of Disney” movies, “Sabrina Goes to Rome” and “Sabrina Down Under,” both of which she produced and starred in after the success of the first TV movie, “Sabrina,” for Showtime in 1995.

Wednesday Night Ratings: REVENGE Season Finale Up, Biggest Audience In Months

The Wednesday night Nielsen ratings are in. Below is the May 23 ratings report from ABC:

ABC's freshman season finale of REVENGE finished as the No. 1 series in the 10 o'clock hour, beating out the season ender of NBC's veteran LAW & ORDER: SVU in the hour by wide margins with Total Viewers (+11% - 7.8 million vs. 7.0 million), Adults 18-49 (+26% - 2.4/6 vs. 1.9/5) and Adults 25-54 (+25% - 3.07 vs. 2.4/6).

Daytime Emmys Will Air On HLN June 23

This year's Daytime Emmy Awards will be telecast on HLN (formerly known as CNN Headline News and CNN2).

This marks the first time the ceremony will air on cable. This year’s telecast will be produced by Gabriel Gornell of LocoDistro and will feature tributes to recently canceled programs including ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE.
