THE REVOLUTION Panned By Critics, Flops In Ratings In Opening Days

THE REVOLUTION has been panned by critics, and was a flop in its first four days in the metered markets:

Monday, January 16
Lead-in: 2.3/ 6
THE REVOLUTION: 1.9/ 5

Tuesday, January 17
Lead-in: 1.9/ 6
THE REVOLUTION: 1.5/ 5

Wednesday, January 18
Lead-in: 2.0/ 6
THE REVOLUTION: 1.5/ 5

Thursday, January 19
THE REVOLUTION: 1.3/4

Below is one of our favorite reviews of the show that replaced beloved soap ONE LIFE TO LIVE:

Chicago Sun-Times: ‘The Revolution’ unfortunately will be televised
"What it actually delivers — besides one long Macy’s commercial — is a bunch of platitudes, lame tips ('embrace color'), television’s millionth makeover and advice from the no-duh handbook."

Of course it's all about the bottom line for ABC who feel they can make as much or more money by putting out a cheaper show with lower ratings. Time will tell on the profit margins but there's little doubt THE REVOLUTION will develop the type of brand loyalty ONE LIFE generated since 1968.

  6. When ABC drops General Hospital my daytime viewing days for their network are OVER. I work most days so I TIVO GH and OLTL. I also TIVO Days. When they are gone, my daytime viewing days are over period. Yeah, soaps don't draw big numbers, but what show on network television does?
They are now copying cable and regurgitation the same old crap. Goodbye daytime network. And how many of you start yawning before the end of the Morning shows. They are way tooooooo long.

  7. Why not air 2 hours of crickets chirping? Cheap to produce and just as entertaining. Good job ABC

  8. In the Golden Days of Broadcasting... NBC was promoted by parent company RCA as" a Service of Radio Corporation of America. Now... all the major networks have new owners and the bottom line is the mighty dollar. The viewers aren't important... the cost of a show is. So... Mickey Mouse ordered ABC to cut costs no matter what. You know.. you get what you pay for. What kills me is they shipped the actors of AMC to the west coast citing it was cheaper to produce, but still cancelled it and OLTL. Mickey Mouse has become a big, fat, greedy rat.

  10. It's so sad. I've watched AMC & OLTL For more than half my life. Started watching with my grandmother in the 80's and it was the one thing that reminded me of her that I could watch everyday. I refuse to watch ABC from 12-3 unless it's soaps. Good job ABC Execs you really screwed this one up.

  12. Blah, blah, blah. As the saying goes, TALK IS CHEAP. Ty Pennington grates on my nerves with his voice. These informational shows are all the same. I refuse to turn them on.

  15. stay strong soap fans we all need to remember that they want ratings, so no matter if they take the chew and revolution off for another show other than AMC or OLTL, we can not watch..lets keep the rating low until we get what we want and that is our soaps back on air!!!!!

  16. Tsk, tsk, ABC. You ignored the fans of the soaps who have loved our shows for the past 40 years +. You didn't give us enough credit to know the difference between the history of a show we have emotionally invested in, and a common, boring reality show. Shame on you and I will not watch any shows on ABC except GH, until the rights to AMC and OLTL are released to Agnes Nixon.

  20. Dickens wrote "In my opinion the Street Punch is one of those extravagant reliefs from the realities of life which would lose its hold upon the people if it were made moral and instructive.". Replace street punch with soap opera, it is still true.

  22. I'd rather see reruns of past soap episodes than I would anything new that ABC could put out. These replacements are ridiculous!

  23. I watched one episode of the chew and turned it off after 2 minutes. I am sorry but those people are HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! Refuse to watch Revolution because we already have shows just like this on currently on tv that work just fine. These people don't need to be dragged into a war that really has nothing to do with them. ABC STOP telling the public what you think we need to watch. Think its clear they are sending you a very good message that you just stay in denial.

  24. I will not watch other shows which features people who are on The Chew or The Revolution. This goes past ABC.

  25. ABC doesnt give a crap about its daytime veiwers or primetime. They are cancelling shows that have worked for over 40 years, that is 40 years of loyalty. What did they do to their loyal fans, one HUGE slap in the face. Cancelling two with the threat of 3 soaps that have lined their pockets for years to give us garbage tv. Now for primetime they cancelled Brother and sisters, DHW is its final shows. Greys has gone from the average of 24 shows per season to 15 shows this season. Why should we invest in any of their shows when they can pull the plug on it at anytime with out warning or once its established cut the shows in half and make us watch repeats. Well guess what i dont want your garbage replacements or repeats so I will just switch channels!

  27. Just what American women needed, yet another regurge of all the things that are WRONG with us! Forget entertainment... hello, ABC... entertainment was our afternoon stories not a gaggle of supercilious wannabe-stars, 2/3 of whom none of us have ever heard of before! Time to roll out the hearse, ABC Daytime is, for all intents and purposes, dead. Next move, I'm sure, will be to replace GH with, oh, God, spare me!... Katie Couric and her boring as dirt interviews. She flopped as a news anchor (hands up anyone who was actually surprised by that!) and now they want to inflict this coma-inducing, sanctimonious, haughty prune on us 5 days a week in mid-afternoon! So long, farewell, auf weidersen, adieu ABC! You might as well start the hearses moving now, by the time September rolls in, the stench of decay will have become unbearable from the rotting corpses ABC Daytime leaves in its wake.
