Who says soap operas are not trendy? During Monday's episode of GOEDE TIJDEN SLECHTE TIJDEN the show became a worldwide trending topic on Twitter with the hashtag #GTST and the character name "Sjoerd". The show and characters are often trending topics in the Netherlands when major things are happening, but I believe this is the first time that the show is also a worldwide trending topic.
On Monday's episode we saw the first moments of 17 year old Sjoerd Bouwhuis (played by Guido Spek) as a father. His girlfriend Rikki de Jong (played by Robin Martens) gave birth to their son Bram during Friday's episode. Because they're both so young they've decided to let Sjors and Bing raise their baby. In the episode we saw Sjoerd breaking down right after they left with his son.
"Rikki" and "Bram" were also trending topics in the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, during the East Coast airing on ONE LIFE TO LIVE, "Brody" was trending in the United States as Mark Lawson's character was featured.
