INTERVIEW: Talking Dirty (DIRTY SOAP) with Farah Fath & John-Paul Lavoisier
Posted by Kevin Mulcahy Jr.
WE LOVE SOAPS TV: So, DIRTY SOAP. We're loving it. Do you have any regrets about doing the show, about the way it's played out, or the way they edit it together?
Farah Fath: John-Paul has never seen the show, so he won't know what you're talking about.
WE LOVE SOAPS TV: See, JP, it's this show called DIRTY SOAP, where people follow you around with cameras, and they ask you a lot of personal questions...
John-Paul Lavoisier: Cameras? I was told it was a whole-room air freshener!
Farah Fath: No, no regrets. We knew going into it that they could alter conversations, edit things any way they want...
WE LOVE SOAPS TV: Did they?
Farah Fath: Yes. They've literally, when I've been talking about a person, they have dubbed it into when I'm talking about someone else. It's that misleading. Oops!
Some scenes play out and I think, "Well, that's how that really happened." And other scenes play out and I think,"okay..." and I just want to get on Twitter and clear the air. But I can't.
WE LOVE SOAPS TV: Why not?
Farah Fath: It's what we signed up for. We knew they had the power to do these things. I can't be upset, because I signed my name on the dotted line.
WE LOVE SOAPS TV: Is there anything you do want to clear up?
Farah Fath: If the show does not get picked up, for a second season, I will talk into this microphone for seven hours about all the stuff I'd like to clear up.
WE LOVE SOAPS TV: Would you still sign up for a second season?
Farah Fath: We have to. We won't know for a couple of months, they're testing it out in other countries right now. It's airing in 90 countries!
WE LOVE SOAPS TV: My goodness!
Farah Fath: Yeah, so we're hoping it does well in all the places where our soaps thrive, like Canada, Australia, South Africa, wherever. So yeah, 90 countries. [to JP] You didn't know that?
John-Paul Lavoisier: I knew that, I was just thinking about the fact that I can't name 90 countries... I hope the guy that dubs me is great!
Tell us more about those PJs...
John-Paul Lavoisier: ...that I wasn't allowed to wear to the interview? Yeah, I was told that I wasn't allowed to wear my PJs. I keep this shirt in my dressing room, because as soon as I get to work I change into--I call it my "smock." Why sit around in my own clothes all day? When I can just soil some work stuff? I'm just saying, you know.
John-Paul Lavoisier: Well, yes. You don't poop on your shirts?
Farah Fath: Oh, lord. [She laughs.]
John-Paul Lavoisier: I wear this at work! I've changed... some say for the better.
So, 90 countries?
John-Paul Lavoisier: Anyway, the pajama pants, yes. I wear pajama pants. They're comfortable, and they're cheap.
Farah Fath: Yes, we know.
John-Paul Lavoisier: Okay, well. I backtracked.
Farah Fath: He wore them to work today. Don't fret.
How many pairs would you guess you had?
John-Paul Lavoisier: I don't know, I've received a lot as gifts. Some of them I just don't wear anymore because they're not as comfortable or whatever, but I don't know... maybe twenty? If I added them all up, maybe twenty, give or take. I've got really thin ones, for summer time, and I have really warm ones, for winter time.
It's been a long time since I bought a pair of pajama pants, and I'll tell you why: because most of the ones I had, I bought years ago, and most of the newer ones have been gifts. And two of the pair I own I bought with my comp dollars from the Borgata in Atlantic City.
Maybe Farah wants to talk about shoes, or something, just to even the score?
Farah Fath: I got some new Prada boots? They're fun. They're great!
John-Paul Lavoisier: She won't tell me how much they cost.
