  1. Yes, AMC has done a bad job with HPV. The reality is that HPV is a virus that most adults have. The danger of the virus is that it can cause cancer. In fact, the leading cause of oral cancer is HPV, transmitted through oral sex.

    Instead of making HPV a shameful sexually transmitted disease, AMC should have focused on it as as a virus that could be prevented through a vaccine!

    Physicians recommend that all boys and girls should receive a vaccination before becoming sexually active.

    The reality is that the AMC character could have been HPV positive for years. She could have received not only through sex but through an open mouth kiss.

    The point was put across by Cara when she examined Amanda and gave her the initial results, that she may have had the virus for a long time, and they are currently exploring the possibility of it being cancer, with Amanda having a biopsy.

    Plus, if HPV is so widely spread it shouldn't just be the responsibility of a tv show to inform people about it..
