Hickland: "I Can Not Recall A More Reviled Executive."

Look out ABC execs.  ZenCat, aka as the fierce and fired up Catherine Hickland (ex-TEXAS, THE CITY, LOVING, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) is speaking up and speaking out.  The actress/author/hypnotist unleashed a cogent and karma-minded blog post today, calling out the "you-know-who" at ABC on his hypocrisy, lies, and general disdain for the soap opera genre.  Here is a sampling of her statement:

From the get go it was very clear to those of us who had been through many regimes that you-know-who did not like soaps. It always felt as if he was in contempt of them. We actors said it all the time, it was very hard to understand. That’s a hard pill to swallow when you love the genre. It’s hard to know what will make something work, and then watch it being absolutely decimated by someone you have not one iota of respect for.

Good and important people to the shows were fired, moved to another state, and then salaries were cut. Not necessarily for the best intentions. After all, they had to find those funds to pay big money for the girl of you-know- who’s fantasies De Jour. This in turn created animosity in the casts. It starts at the top, they say. Indeed. Poison trickles down and infects companies like a cancer, damaging morale that is nearly unfixable. In my 27 years of acting, In the five regimes I worked under at that network alone, I have never seen anything like it. In 30 years as an entertainer, I can not recall a more reviled executive.
We Love Soaps TV wishes to praise "ZenCat" and other actors who are having the courage to speak their convictions in these saddened times.  Press here to read her entire entry.

  1. She is saying what all of us on the outside also saw. I am appalled that Disney has let this man ruin the soaps and is doing nothing about it. Walt is turning over in his grave.

  2. Amen!!! Frons is full of bologna and we all know it!!! He has stated many times and even in a recent interview that he admired ABC daytime so much but it was obvious he had a disdain for daytime television. I mean we all saw what his creativity did to Days of Our Lives for a while there and then he comes to ABC and in what, less than a decade obliterates half of their soaps. Thank you Catherine Hickland for telling it like it is. Not many in the soap community can or are brave enough to state the truth that we all know.

  3. I am sad of the cancellation of AMC &OLTL. I am heartbroken. I have been watching both soaps for a long time & watched them with my Mom, and Grandmother, & great Grndmother. Soaps are becoming extinct, & it's sad. Please don't cancel these soaps. I feel like I am losing part of my family. I will pray, & keep my fingers crossed that they will not be cancelled.
