Joan Van Ark, who soap fans loved as Valene Ewing on KNOTS LANDING for many years, will be making a guest appearance on the second season of PRETTY, the show announced today. PRETTY has lined up a long line of impressive guest stars including daytime legend Denise Alexander (GENERAL HOSPITAL, DAYS OF OUR LIVES, ANOTHER WORLD). Van Ark's other work includes originating the role of Gloria on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (now played by Judith Chapman) back in 2004.
Her other soap appearances were on DALLAS (where Valene got her start), NIP/TUCK, DAYS OF OUR LIVES and PEYTON PLACE.

ReplyDelete(NelsonAspen) Joan is an absolute sweetheart and so talented. We met in a supermarket checkout line about 15 years ago and became pals. I've interviewed her, done staged readings with her...she is awesome. (And she is an amazing, committed runner, too!) PRETTY is lucky to have her.
ReplyDeleteShe also told me some trivia which, as Carol Lynley's #1 fan, really blew me away. Larry Hagman, a longtime friend & neighbor of Carol's, originally offered HER the role of Val Ewing on DALLAS. But when Carol wasn't available, the part went to Joan!
