Melina Kanakaredes Quits CSI: NEW YORK, Sela Ward In?

Former GUIDING LIGHT star Melina Kanakaredes has opted not to return for Season 7 of CSI: NEW YORK, saying of her cast: "I will treasure them forever!"

“We hoped Melina would return to CSI: NY for another season, but we respect her decision to move on,” CBS said in a statement. “Her amazing talent and invaluable contribution to the success of the series are greatly appreciated and will not be forgotten. She will forever remain a friend to the network and studio and we wish her the very best.”

According to Michael Ausiello, a CBS insider confirms that Kanakaredes’ last episode has already aired. That same source also confirms that Sela Ward is the frontrunner to fill the show’s leading-lady void.

  1. ohhhh I love Sela Ward!

I'm suddenly reminded of the travesty that was the cancellation of Once and Again.

  2. I do love Sela Ward, too.
But isn't it a bit late in the summer to announce Kanakeredes not returning?
Don't envy the writers having to figure out the first couple episodes of the season, which will probably be filming any day now.
And since Stella wasn't in any type of cliff-hanger in the season finale, it will be interesting seeing how she's just not there anymore.
