A 'golden age' for British TV drama?‎
In March the BBC announced proposals to invest an extra £25m in BBC2, with drama a priority; Sky, not much known for drama, is to put some £40m into new series, and Channel Four, with money freed up by the dropping of the reality TV show BIG BROTHER, is to invest about £20m of that into drama.

Differences between the UK and US traditions have also produced a sharp divergence in the nature of the craft. British writers tend to cleave to the romantic view of the writer, alone with his vision. American dramas use the Hollywood system of teams of writers.
