Two-time daytime-Emmy-winner (1985, 1986) David Canary, who plays twins
Adam Chandler/Stewart Chandler on ABC's ALL MY CHILDREN, was born in Elwood, Ind., before he became a Massillon resident at age 5. Canary played football for Massillon's Washington High and the University of Cincinnati, and was drafted by but never signed with the National Football League's Denver Broncos. The 1960 U. of Cincinnati music graduate studied voice at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.
After college, Canary did summer-stock musicals for two years before heading for Broadway, where he made his debut in "Great DAY, in the Morning." After Army service, Canary returned to the stage in "The Fantastics" in San Francisco.
Canary's theatrical-movie debut came in 1967 (Hombre). He played Candy in NBC's long-running BONANZA in two stretches (1967-70, 1972-73).
Canary made his soap debut in 1965 as Russ Gehring in ABC's prime-time
PEYTON PLACE. In 1981, Canary was in NBC's THE DOCTORS for six weeks, the year he joined ANOTHER WORLD as Steven Frame.
Canary joined ALL MY CHILDREN in December 1983 to play unscrupulous Adam
Chandler. Now Canary also plays Chandler's mentally disturbed twin Stewart.
Canary has been married twice and has a daughter.
