Twitter Unveils Plans to Draw Money From Ads
Twitter will unveil on Tuesday a much-anticipated plan for making money from advertising, finally answering the question of how the company expects to turn its exponential growth into revenue.

The advertising program, which Twitter calls Promoted Tweets, will show up when Twitter users search for keywords that the advertisers have bought to link to their ads. Later, Twitter plans to show promoted posts in the stream of Twitter posts, based on how relevant they might be to a particular user.

Ex-NBC Exec Ben Silverman: Opportunities Exist For TV Start-Ups
About six months ago, Silverman announced that he was leaving NBC Universal, after failing to resurrect its prime-time lineup, to form a joint venture with Barry Diller's digital media empire, IAC/InterActiveCorp. (IACI), called Electus. It has been billed as a next-generation film studio bridging the gap between TV and the Internet by bringing advertisers on board in the earliest stages of development and scaling content internationally.

The approach is aimed at finding a new model for producing TV shows by reducing financial risks posed by programming production costs and allowing advertisers to have a more hands-on role in the process to better engage audiences in an age of video-on-demand, interactivity and social media.

Silverman said major advertisers have always played a key role in the development of media entertainment, and Procter & Gamble's role in PEDRO & MARIA stems from the company's desire to be involved in the latest forms of video entertainment.

"The approach is aimed at finding a new model for producing TV shows by reducing financial risks posed by programming production costs and allowing advertisers to have a more hands-on role in the process to better engage audiences in an age of video-on-demand, interactivity and social media." - quoth Ben Silverman

Isn't Ben Silverman aware of early TV history when single advertisers played key roles in creative decisions for shows and stars used the brands on air and appeared in the live commercials? That's not a new concept. Yep, I always thought that all we needed for better television was more advertiser involvement. No wonder he failed at NBC.
