HOT STORIES: The End of Kyle & Fish on OLTL

Well, it was a hot story, until someone decided to scapegoat Kyle and Fish for ONE LIFE TO LIVE's ailing ratings. Monday's episode was the last scheduled airdate for Kyle and Fish together. Kyle is scheduled to appear one more time. Fish was awarded custody of Sierra Rose. Watch it below.

  1. I still can't believe that's it. What a terrible, unsatisfying way to wrap up the story. Kyle, Oliver, & Sierra just walk off camera and disappear. For me, the worst thing is that their final scenes were so Rex/Gigi centered. They weren't KYLE AND OLIVER scenes, they were REX AND GIGI scenes. Like the audience isn't sick to death of those two already.

Apparently somebody feels Rex and Gigi have a more favorable reaction from OLTL fans than Kyle and Fish. I haven't met anyone who feels that way.

  3. I am deeply angry & upset that the ABC suits ended this remarkable love story. BOOOOOO to ABC for this super-stupid move! :(

Because mainstream America would prefer to see a religious evangelist rapist shoot a man, dig a body out of a grave, and nearly rape his own daughter, as opposed to watching two men in love struggle?

If that's the audience they are catering to, then I'm glad I'm not "mainstream."

  5. I am still heartbroken that OLTL/ABC abandoned this amazing storyline. To make it the fallguy for so many other issues that resulted in lower ratings is ridiculous and insulting. I won't be watching the show anymore because of it. It's a shame because Kish was a wonderful story and brought a large and diverse following to the show. Bye, bye ABC.

  6. I had thought that I was part of what they defined as the mainstream audience (woman, married, 18-49), but apparently not, since apparently a "mainstreamer" would turn away rather than burst into tears as these two totally deserving, loving parents got to keep their hysterically cute baby. And yet this moving scene was ruined when they cut away from Kish's kiss and hug, which I only noticed on a second viewing. THEY were the ones who got custody! I would understand if they had to cut them, but it is so unfair to loyal viewers to do it this way!

  7. So that's it. That's the non-ending Kyle & Oliver get. The pairing that got the show the vast majority of its positive press over the last nine months is essentially given the hook. Walk out the door, never to be seen again.

What a slap in the face to the fans who were invested in this couple and this show. As a long-time viewer (going on 15 years), it's a wake-up-call to know how little I, as a woman in the 18-49 demo, is valued by OLTL.

So, OLTL, go spend time on the stories "that have a more favorable reaction from [your] audience." You can have your rapists, your brain-damaged 30-somethings, your air-sucking Rex and Gigi searching for his daddy once again.

Keep them all. I am off to other shows that actually value me as a viewer.

Seriously, I thought they must have someother target demo when I heard about this because that is mee too and I LOVE kish. I think maybe they got nervous or got flack from somewhere else because it seems the "target demo" mostly loved this storyline...
