Which Actor Has Appeared In The Most Soap Finales?

On Episode #12 of "We Love Soaps Radio," Damon asked which actor had appeared on the most final episodes of cancelled soaps. We Love Soaps has some wonderful soap historians as readers so help us out and let's compile a list of actors who have appeared in multiple soap finales.

Just taking a look at actors from GUIDING LIGHT, Kim Zimmer was also on the SANTA BARBARA finale. Was she on THE DOCTORS final episode? Tina Sloan was on SOMERSET in 1976 but was she in the finale? Marj Dusay was also in the final episode of CAPITOL.

I think you are correct about Ms. Zimmer being on the most finales, Ms. Dusay was on the Capitol finale, the GL finale, and on Santa Barbara, but she wasn't on the finale.

also, Nicolas Coster was on the finale of Summerset as well as the finale of Santa Barbara - but that's only two.

Debbi Morgan was on the Generations and the City finales.

Actually, there are a lot of people with two finales, because there are all of those actors from both the Loving finale and The City finale

One more two-fer - Marla Adams was on the finales of Secret Storm and Generations

Good stuff. Keep it coming. I wish we had easy access to more episodes from the classic soaps, especially the pre-VCR ones.

Ilene Kristen was on the final episode of Ryan's Hope. Was she not also on Loving around the time it folded?

Krista Tesreau was on both GL and Santa Barbara, but I don't think any others.

We know that William Prince was in the finales of A World Apart and Search for Tomorrow. And isn't it very likely that he was in the last episode of Young Dr. Malone since he was playing the title character?

I know Ilene Kristen was no longer on Loving by the time it morphed into The City, and hadn't been for at least a year or two.

Wow...it's really hard to think of anyone who has topped more than two finales! I am going over the casts of Santa Barbara, Ryan's Hope, Generations, Loving, The City, Sunset Beach, Another World,Port Charles, Passions, and Guiding Light in my head, and I can think of plenty of people who have been on more than two soaps, of course, but not more than two finales.

Although what I found interesting as a sidebar was that in your post above with clips for four different soap finales, Pamela Long wrote three of them!

Actually, now that I think about it, I think Lisa Peluso may come the closest...but still not a complete threepeat. I know for certain she was on the Another World finale, I'm pretty sure she was on the finale of Search for Tomorrow, and if I remember right, she *almost* made it to the finale of Loving, but I believe Ava took off for Florida in a huff about a week or two prior to the series end.

well what about Debbie Morgan? As DocP said she was on the last episode of Generations and The City and wasn't she on the last episode of Loving (i don't know if you consider Loving and The City diffrent soaps but I do) so that would make 3 for her.

I think if I remember that far back, Kim Zimmer was on the finale of The Doctors.

Other thoughts:

Jada Rowland in the finales of "The Secret Storm" and "The Doctors"

Mark Pinter in the finales of "Love of Life" and "Another World"

Joel Crothers in the finales of "Somerset" and "The Edge of Night," but I don't know for sure if he was in the last ep of "Somerset," just guessing.

You all are so knowledgeable. I love soap history!

@ryan Brandon's Buzz did a great interview with Pamela K. Long the other day.

David Forsyth appeared in the finales of both Texas and Search for Tomorrow. Sadly, the "Powers That Be" did not retain him until the end of Another World's run.

Forsyth played the part of Pamela Long's character's old flame on Texas. As has been established here, Long wrote the finales for both SFT and Texas along with Santa Barbara outside the Procter & Gamble tent.

Your recent postings on David Andrew MacDonald sparked a flash that he was a cast member during the final episodes of both Guiding Light and Another World ten years apart. I am pretty sure he appeared on the last episode of Another World. His final cliffhanging Guiding Light appearance was on the second last episode.

If you stretch the category a bit, Ellen Wheeler also had roles in the finales of Another World (acting) and Guiding Light (executive producer)

Provided the "Loving" and "The City" count as two separate soaps, Debbi Morgan now has a fourth soap opera finale to her credits with All My Children.

Also appearing in three finales (in the last three years, no less) is Daniel Cosgrove with Guiding Light, As the World Turns and now All My Children.

Hopefully. these two talented actors do not come to be seen as "show killers."
