News Round-up: Emmy, Melvin, Evans, Brown, McClain

Daytime Emmy predix: B&B will win best drama for the first time ever
Pundits at Gold Derby are predicting a first best drama win for THE BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL.

Cady McClain shares her thoughts on the AMC move to L.A.
1) There are people who have worked on the show in New York, crew members, production staff, and New York based actors who are all out of a job now. Less production in NYC is bad for NYC.
2) AMC will no longer have access to NY theater actors, who used to consider it a fun place to do a bit part, and their presence always lifted up the show.
3) AMC will no longer have access to the older characters that made up the base of the core families. It’s hard on older people to move to LA for a show that only uses them a few times a year, and even flying back and forth will be expensive and difficult.

It’s almost as if TPTB have been given carte blanche to do what they want. They seem to have thrown out “the book” that made the show what it was. Agnes Nixon- where are you??

Lifetime commits to Rachel Melvin's Sins miniseries
Lifetime Movie Network is taking a contemporary look at the seven deadly sins. The cable network is moving with production on Seven Deadly Sins, a four-hour miniseries based on Robin Wasserman's "Seven Deadly Sins" series of novels: "Lust," "Greed," "Envy," "Wrath," "Gluttony," "Sloth" and "Pride."

Soap alum Eric Close is set to star in the mini, written by Gary Tieche and to be directed by Jeff Renfroe. Dreama Walker (GOSSIP GILR), Rachel Melvin (DAYS OF OUR LIVES), Jared Keeso, Emma Lahana, Greyston Holt and Steven Grayhm co-star in the project. It is slated to begin production late this month for a 2010 premiere.

INTERVIEW: ATWT's Judi Evans (Maeve)
Evans was interviewed for You magazine in South Africa.
"If fans take the trouble to write about how much they hate you, you must be doing a good job. It’s the highest compliment an actor can get."

EASTENDERS star June Brown looking for love
Veteran EASTENDERS star June Brown has admitted that she is hoping to find a boyfriend. The 82-year-old actress, who plays Albert Square legend Dot Cotton, confirmed that she would like to date a middle-aged man but is not optimistic about her chances.

Brown told The Mirror: "I wouldn't mind a male companion. But I don't want an old male companion or a young one - and a middle-aged one wouldn't fancy me."

NBC is streaming the pilot episode of COMMUNITY on social networking site Facebook, commercial free through Friday, August 14. Surprisingly, NBC is not making the pilot available on its website or on Hulu, at least not yet. The network streamed most of its new fall shows on Hulu a week before they premiered on the broadcaster in 2008.
