Alison Sweeney receives MDA Directors' Award
The Muscular Dystrophy Association has awarded its highest philanthropic achievement honor, the MDA Directors' Award, to two entertainment industry celebrities. DAYS OF OUR LIVES star Alison Sweeney and Ace Young were honored for their outstanding contributions to MDA's battle against muscular dystrophy and related disease. The award recognizes philanthropic contributions in the areas of corporate and organizational sponsorship, media and entertainment industry support, and personal fundraising. Sweeney currently serves as an MDA Celebrity Ambassador.

SECRET LIFE's Molly Ringwald welcomes twins
Ringwald, who plays Anne on THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER, and her husband Panio Gianopoulos, welcomed daughter Adele Georgiana and son Roman Stylianos after a natural birth on Friday, July 10 in Los Angeles, according to People.

Former CORRIE star ditches acting to make cheese
Former CORONATION STREET actor Sean Wilson visited Cumbria at the weekend to unveil his new alter-ego as a celebrity cheesemaker. Sean Wilson, who played Martin Platt in the soap opera, went to Orton Farmers’ Market to discuss his new venture, The Saddleworth Cheese Company.

CBS is the latest partner for Comcast On Demand Online
Comcast's online TV offering is starting to look like a real competitor to Hulu. CBS confirmed this morning it is joining the cable company's On Demand Online trial, part of the industry-wide TV Everywhere initiative. CBS is the first broadcast network to provide content to the online TV service. CBS has not yet said which content will be available to the trial which is expected to start next month in 5,000 homes in Comcast's footprint. CBS said it would test a range of current and library content.

Dennis Parlato takes o the role of El Gallo in "The Fantasticks" 7/13-8/2
Former soap star Dennis Parlato will assume the role of El Gallo in Off Broadway's "The Fantasticks" from July 13 through August 2, 2009 while Lewis Cleale, who normally plays the role, appears in "Camelot" at The Muny.
