The Latest on the Daytime Emmys from ATI

ATI president of Worldwide Media and Entertainment, Jim Romanovich, who was the key player in bringing the Daytime Emmy Awards to The CW and a true daytime fan, has given We Love Soaps an update on the latest happenings with this year's event.

Shortly, I am going to make a huge announcement involving three daytime stars and a major event to coincide with the Daytime Emmys telecast. Shortly, after that, I'm hoping to make a follow up announcement on another big event with several daytime stars (if I can pull it off). The second promotion is still being negotiated. The first is a done deal and it's big. The second could be bigger. Never been done within the confines of the Daytime Emmys.

We have also agreed to host the Creative Arts ceremony at a venue in Hollywood which is nothing short of impressive. Being fans of daytime just doesn't mean the performers. Everyone contributing to a show has a hand in a show's success. This is our way to honor those that rarely get the glory. We are holding the event on August 29th in the evening.

Just had a very successful lunch with the daytime producers of the east coast and it was spectacular. Most of these people only see each other at the Emmys or key network functions. But imagine sitting at one table with key reps of ABC, AMC, OLTL, ATWT, and GL. Another table had the top brass from SESAME STREET. I sat across from Frank Valentini and next to Julie Carruthers. No spoliers. Sorry. But the vibe was positive and everyone was pleased to join us at The Penn Club.

Stay tuned for the upcoming announcements!

  1. Nice Scoop! Can't wait to see what the two big events ARE and who/which daytime stars will be involved!!

I know Vincent Irizarry is holding a FACEBOOK party during the Emmys, maybe something having to do with FACEBOOK or TWITTER! that would be fun!

  2. is it totally wishful thinking that the big event would be the announcement that guiding light is moving to a new network?

  3. John, to the very end, I will hold out hope that Guiding Light will survive. Either way, this year looks to be a good one for the Emmys. I'm very impessed with Jim Romanovich and his passion for soaps.
