Nelson Branco interviewed ALL MY CHILDREN star Cameron Mathison for a feature in the latest issue of Hello Canada.Here are some highlights:
Being a big TV star, husband and father doesn’t lend itself to a lot of drinking – but when you were single, what was your choice of poison? Oh, that’s an easy one: Jack Daniels on the rocks. That was my drink of choice. It’s a great drink. I gave it
up a few years ago, because of fatherhood and my career. It’s hard to wake up in the middle of the night to cuddle your child when you’re drunk or hung over! I didn’t drink a lot, but I’m an all-ornothing kind of guy, so I gave it up. I prefer to be clearer, fresh and healthy.
Do you miss Canada? I do. I live in New York City, so I’m close by. Canada is a spectacular country; I’m sorry, America, it just is! [Laughs.] It’s who I am. The more I come back, the more I tap into those feelings. I’m still a full Canadian citizen.
How do you unwind after a long day? Sometimes Vanessa and I lie in bed and read to each other if there’s a book we’re both interested in – about relationships or parenthood, for example. We come from the philosophy that we can always improve
our relationship and ourselves. Our favourite thing to do is eat popcorn and watch a movie. My wife makes the best popcorn in the world.
