News Brief

CORRIE actor promises more from character
CORONATION STREET star Graeme Hawley has hinted that viewers could be seeing more of his character in the New Year.

Speaking to Inside Soap, he said: "His case will go to trial, so we'll see what happens. There's more of a story to tell with John because he's not a typical villain - he's a good person who did a very bad thing. It'd be interesting to see if he can prove that he's not really a psycho, or whether he'll just continue screwing up his life. I think John's redeemable - the romantic side of me would like to see him forgiven."

INTERVIEW: VERBOTENE LIEBE's Thore Schölermann (Christian) and Jo Weil (Oliver)
Weil: "When we became aware of all the people all around the world following the development of our characters with so much passion, we became very glad and proud. We never even thought about that when we started with this love storyline about a year ago. But certainly it is a great compliment and shows us that it was worth the commitment and work that we've invested in the story."

Schölermann: "Fans stop me. It was funny when someone from America stopped me at the IFA [Internationale Funkausstellung; the International Exhibition for TV and Radio]. I couldn't believe it and asked him first of all why and how he watches VL, especially in America, where they have the greatest TV series! And he answered that VL simply touches his heart. That was very nice to hear, but nevertheless, it was unbelievable!"

EDITOR'S NOTE: Thank you to Mala Bhattacharjee for adding international soap coverage to Weekly in the past few months. Soap fans these days can watch shows from all over the world online so it's wonderful to see the soap print press take notice.

Metcalfe: I don't miss HOUSEWIVES
Jesse Metcalfe has confessed that he does not miss starring in DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES.

Speaking to Parade, the actor said that he was grateful for his career break on the ABC drama but felt he needed to leave to establish a film career.

"Truthfully I don't [miss it]," he said. "Obviously, it was just a huge opportunity for me. And it was a great time, really a lot of fun. But leaving the show was a blessing because I could have still been playing John Rowland five years later. Now I've gotten to play some really interesting, complex characters in feature films."

DEVIN OWENS: Luke and Kevin
"I don't know where ATWT is going by bringing back Luke's former crush, Kevin, who is SUPPOSEDLY straight, but there's no denying the chemistry between these guys whenever they're on screen together. Does Noah have something to worry about? This soap has been breaking down barriers with Nuke's sweet romance; maybe it's time to tell an all-male love triangle."

INTERVIEW: S&S's Gregori J. Martin
Longtime SCRIPTS & SCRUPLES star and Manhattanites director, Gregori J. Martin, was a guest on "Stardish Radio" last night.
